Evening Prayer for August 31

About 2–3 minutes · 9 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

Occupy till I come.

Today’s takeaway: Stay faithful in the work God has given you, because nothing done for Him is wasted.

The Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch.

Unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.

I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.

Wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business?

Leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps

Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

Before you pray

What work has God given you that you want to be faithful in?

Prayer

Lord Jesus, You told Your servants to do business until You come. You gave each one work and talents. Tonight I look back at how I used mine today. Where I was faithful, thank You. Where I wasted time, forgive me. Help me be steadfast tomorrow, knowing my labor in You is not in vain. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
