Evening Prayer for August 23

About 2–3 minutes · 8 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

I have made, and I will bear

Today’s takeaway: God made you, and He will carry you all the way, even into old age.

Thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine. When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee

Even to your old age I am he; and even to hoar hairs will I carry you

As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings: So the LORD alone did lead him

He bare them, and carried them all the days of old.

Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

For I am persuaded, that neither … height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee.

Before you pray

How has God carried you through the years?

Prayer

LORD, You made me, and You will carry me. Even to my old age You are the same, and even to gray hairs You will carry me. Like an eagle bearing her young on her wings, You have carried me all the days of my life. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. You will not forget me. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
