Evening Prayer for August 22
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
God’s Word
God gave Solomon … largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore.
Today’s takeaway: Jesus is greater than Solomon, and His love and wisdom are beyond measure.

Scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
To know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge
Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.
In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
The unsearchable riches of Christ
Of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption

Prayer
Father, You gave Solomon great wisdom, but a greater than Solomon is here. Christ died for me while I was still a sinner. Help me know the love of Christ that passes knowledge, not just as an idea but in my heart. Tonight let me fall asleep amazed that I am loved like this. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
