Evening Prayer for April 3
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
God’s Word
Ye were as a firebrand plucked out of the burning
Today’s takeaway: God rescued you like a stick pulled from the fire, and He wants all people saved.
The sinners in Zion are afraid; fearfulness hath surprised the hypocrites. Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire? who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings?
We had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead: Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us
The wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men
Be instant in season, out of season
Others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire
Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.
Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
Before you pray
Who do you know that needs the gospel, and will you pray for them now?
Prayer
Father, I was like a stick pulled out of the fire. I did not rescue myself; You did. Tonight I pray for people I love who do not know You yet. I name them before You now. It is not by might or by power but by Your Spirit. Save them, and give me the right words when the time comes. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
