Evening Prayer for April 16

About 2–3 minutes · 7 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him

Today’s takeaway: God hears when you call, so ask Him boldly, as Jabez, Solomon, and Asa did.

And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.

Ask what I shall give thee. And Solomon said unto God

Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people

And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore.

Asa cried unto the LORD his God, and said, LORD, it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: … O LORD, thou art our God; let not man prevail against thee. So the LORD smote the Ethiopians before Asa

O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come.

Before you pray

What request are you bringing to God tonight?

Prayer

O God, You hear prayer, and all people come to You. You promised that when I call, You will answer and be with me in trouble. Jabez asked You to bless him, and You granted it. Solomon asked for wisdom, and You gave him more. Like Asa, I know it is nothing for You to help, whether I have much strength or none. Hear me tonight. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
