Evening Prayer for April 13

About 2–3 minutes · 9 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

There shall be no night there.

Today’s takeaway: In God's city there will be no night, because He Himself will be its light.

The LORD shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory.

The city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.

They need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light

Ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light

Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son

Ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light

We are not of the night, nor of darkness.

The path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.

Before you pray

What light did God give you today in a dark place?

Prayer

Father, there will be no night in the city You are preparing, because You will be our everlasting light. Tonight, as darkness falls, I thank You for making me fit to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. You have rescued me from the power of darkness. I am a child of light. Let my path shine brighter and brighter until the perfect day. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
