Evening Prayer for April 12
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
God’s Word
All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God
Today’s takeaway: Everyone falls short of God's glory, but He forgives and is changing you into His likeness.
There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that … doeth good, no, not one.
There is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.
How can he be clean that is born of a woman?
Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.
I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.
Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.
The LORD also hath put away thy sin; thou shalt not die.
Whom he justified, them he also glorified.
We all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel
Walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory.
Before you pray
Is there anything from today you need to own honestly before God?
Prayer
Holy God, I have sinned and fallen short of Your glory. There is no one righteous, not even one, and I am not the exception. I acknowledge my transgressions tonight. And I hear Your answer, the same one Nathan gave David: the LORD has put away your sin. Those You justify, You also glorify. Keep changing me into the image of Christ. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
