Good Friday · evening
He Committed His Spirit
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
God’s Word
And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.
Today’s takeaway: At the end Jesus trusted His Father completely, and you can entrust your life to Him too.
Before you pray
What do you need to entrust into the Father's hands tonight?
Prayer
Lord Jesus, at the end You did not cry out in despair, but trusted Your Father completely. You gave Your spirit into His hands, and it was finished. Tonight I sit in the quiet of that Friday. Thank You for dying for me. Teach me to trust the Father like You did. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
