The Firstfruits

A evening prayer for Easter Sunday (the date of Easter changes every year). In the app it replaces the day’s readings automatically.

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.

Today’s takeaway: Christ's resurrection is the first of a great harvest, so there is hope for all in Him.

Before you pray

How does Christ's resurrection change the way you face death and loss?

Prayer

Father, Christ is risen from the dead, the firstfruits of all who have fallen asleep in Him. His resurrection is the first of many. The people I have lost in Christ will rise too. Tonight I go to sleep with Easter hope. Morning is coming for all of us. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
