Morning Prayer for January 18
My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.
God’s Word
Him that was to come.
Today’s takeaway: Adam's failure brought sin, but Jesus, the second Adam, brings life to all who trust Him.
Jesus, … made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, … that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.
One died for all
As by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening … that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.
God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: … So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him
God, … Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, … the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person
Thou hast given him power over all flesh
The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven. As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, You are the last Adam. Where Adam's disobedience made me a sinner, Your obedience has made me righteous. This morning I do not want to live out of guilt, fear, or habit. Let Your love be what moves me today, in my work, in how I answer people, and in the small choices no one sees. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
