Evening Prayer for November 3

About 2–3 minutes · 14 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

The everlasting Father

Today’s takeaway: Jesus and the Father are one, so to know Jesus is to know God.

Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD

I and my Father are one.

The Father is in me, and I in him.

Ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also.

Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us. Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father

Behold I and the children which God hath given me.

He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied

I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

Before Abraham was, I am.

God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.

Unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever

He is before all things, and by him all things consist.

In him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

Before you pray

What does it mean to you that Jesus is the everlasting Father?

Prayer

Lord Jesus, You and the Father are one. Philip asked to see the Father, and You said that whoever has seen You has seen Him. When I wonder what God is really like, let me look at You. Tonight I rest in the Father who is just like You: gentle, faithful, and strong. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
