Evening Prayer for November 29

About 2–3 minutes · 10 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

Do ye now believe?

Today’s takeaway: Real faith shows itself in action, as Abraham's did, so do what you believe.

What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?

Faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son

Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead

Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?

Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.

Whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

By their fruits ye shall know them. Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.

Before you pray

How did your faith show itself in what you did today?

Prayer

Father, Jesus asked His disciples, Do you now believe? Faith without works is dead. Tonight I ask myself whether my faith showed up in what I did today. Where it did, thank You. Where it did not, forgive me. If I know these things, help me find blessing in doing them tomorrow. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
