Evening Prayer for November 19

About 2–3 minutes · 6 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

I will make the place of my feet glorious.

Today’s takeaway: God will fill His house with glory and one day live with His people forever.

Thus saith the LORD, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool

Will God in very deed dwell with men on the earth? behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house which I have built!

Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land; And I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, saith the LORD of hosts. The … glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the LORD of hosts

I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.

Before you pray

Where have you seen God make ordinary places glorious?

Prayer

LORD, heaven is Your throne and the earth is Your footstool, and yet You make the place of Your feet glorious. You chose to dwell with people. Tonight I invite You to dwell in my home and make it a glorious place, not because it is impressive, but because You are here. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
