Evening Prayer for November 10

About 2–3 minutes · 9 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

I sought him, but I found him not.

Today’s takeaway: If God seems far away, return to Him and wait on Him with hope.

Return unto the LORD thy God; for thou hast fallen by thine iniquity. Take with you words, and turn to the LORD: say unto him, Take away all iniquity, and receive us graciously

Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: … But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

Do not err, my beloved brethren. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.

It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.

Shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?

Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation.

My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.

Before you pray

What are you waiting on God for tonight?

Prayer

Father, sometimes I seek You and do not find You right away. I return to You, for my own sin has made me stumble. You do not tempt anyone; every good and perfect gift comes from You. So I wait on You and take courage. It is good to hope and wait quietly for Your salvation. My soul waits only on You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
