Evening Prayer for May 25

About 2–3 minutes · 10 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

The Son of God, … hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire

Today’s takeaway: Jesus sees your heart completely, yet He treats the weak and bruised with great gentleness.

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.

Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret sins in the light of thy countenance.

The Lord turned, and looked upon Peter. And Peter … went out, and wept bitterly.

Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men, And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.

He knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.

A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench

The Lord knoweth them that are his.

I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.

My sheep, … My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

Before you pray

What did the Lord see in your heart today that others did not?

Prayer

Lord Jesus, Your eyes are like a flame of fire, and my heart is more deceitful than I know. My secret sins are in the light of Your face. When Peter denied You, You turned and looked at him, and he went out and wept. Look at me like that tonight, with truth and with mercy. You know my frame, and You keep Your sheep. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
