Evening Prayer for June 2

About 2–3 minutes · 10 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

The LORD is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup

Today’s takeaway: God Himself is your portion, and with Him you have more than enough.

Heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ

All things are your’s

My beloved is mine

The Son of God, … loved me, and gave himself for me.

The LORD spake unto Aaron, Thou shalt have no inheritance in their land, neither shalt thou have any part among them: I am thy part and … inheritance among the children of Israel.

Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee. My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.

Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land

Before you pray

If you lost everything else, what would it mean that the LORD is your portion?

Prayer

LORD, You are my portion and my cup. You told Aaron that he would have no land in Israel, because You Yourself were his inheritance. That is enough for me too. Whom have I in heaven but You? My flesh and my heart may fail, but You are the strength of my heart and my portion forever. I will fear no evil. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
