Evening Prayer for June 10

About 2–3 minutes · 7 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

As Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

Today’s takeaway: Forgive others freely and often, because God has forgiven you a far greater debt.

There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty. And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both.

I forgave thee all that debt, … Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee?

When ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.

Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any

How oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.

Charity, … is the bond of perfectness.

Before you pray

Is there someone you need to forgive before you sleep?

Prayer

Lord, You forgave me a debt I could never pay. How can I refuse to forgive the smaller debts others owe me? Jesus said to forgive seventy times seven. Tonight I bring You the person who hurt me, and I choose to forgive, as You forgave me. Clothe me with mercy, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, and above all with love. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
