Evening Prayer for January 12
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
God’s Word
When shall I arise, and the night be gone?
Today’s takeaway: However long the night, morning is coming, and in heaven there will be no night.
Watchman, what of the night? The watchman said, The morning cometh
Yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.
He shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun riseth, even a morning without clouds
I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you.
Let all thine enemies perish, O LORD: but let them that love him be as the sun when he goeth forth in his might.
Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
There shall be no night there.
Before you pray
What long night are you waiting to see end?
Prayer
Lord, some nights feel long, and I wonder when the morning will come. If tonight is one of those nights for me or for someone I love, let us remember that the watchman says the morning comes. Jesus is like the light of a morning without clouds. Let not my heart be troubled while I wait for the day. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
