Evening Prayer for February 24
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
God’s Word
Shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil?
Today’s takeaway: Receive both good and hard days from God's hand, trusting that He knows what is best.
I know, O LORD, that thy judgments are right, and that thou in faithfulness hast afflicted me.
O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.
It is the LORD: let him do what seemeth him good.
Righteous art thou, O LORD, when I plead with thee: yet let me talk with thee of thy judgments
He shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver
Whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord.
Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered
Rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.
These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
Before you pray
What hard thing today can you receive from God's hand?
Prayer
O LORD, shall I receive good from You and not also hard things? Your judgments are right, and in faithfulness You have afflicted me. You are my Father; I am the clay and You are the potter. It is the LORD; let Him do what seems good. You sit as a refiner. Shape me tonight, gently. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
