Evening Prayer for December 29

About 2–3 minutes · 8 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.

Today’s takeaway: Come close to God tonight, and He will come close to you, so seek Him wholeheartedly.

Enoch walked with God

Can two walk together, except they be agreed?

It is good for me to draw near to God

The LORD is with you, while ye be with him; and if ye seek him, he will be found of you; but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you.

When they in their trouble did turn unto the LORD God of Israel, and sought him, he was found of them.

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, By a new and living way, … And having an high priest over the house of God; Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith

Before you pray

How close have you walked with God this year?

Prayer

Father, draw near to me as I draw near to You. Enoch walked with You. It is good for me to draw near to You. You are with me while I am with You, and if I seek You, You will be found. Your thoughts toward me are thoughts of peace, and I will find You when I search with all my heart. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
