Evening Prayer for December 28
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
God’s Word
We would see Jesus.
Today’s takeaway: Long to see Jesus, and let that hope make you pure while you wait.
O LORD, have we waited for thee; the desire of our soul is to thy name, and to the remembrance of thee.
The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth.
Where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.
Let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith
Now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face
Having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better
Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
Before you pray
How did you catch a glimpse of Jesus this year?
Prayer
Lord Jesus, some Greeks came saying, We would see Jesus. That is my prayer too. You are near to all who call on You. You will not leave me comfortless, and You are with me always. Now I see through a glass, darkly, but one day face to face. Let me look to You as I close this year. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
