Evening Prayer for December 20
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
God’s Word
If the LORD would make windows in heaven, might this thing be?
Today’s takeaway: Do not doubt what God can do, because His power to help has no limit.
Have faith in God.
Without faith it is impossible to please him
With God all things are possible.
Is my hand shortened at all, that it cannot redeem? or have I no power to deliver?
My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
Behold, the LORD’S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear
LORD, it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power
We should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead
Before you pray
What are you doubting God could do?
Prayer
LORD, the officer asked whether You could make windows in heaven, and You did far more than he imagined. I have been limiting You in my prayers. With You all things are possible. Tonight I ask You for something bigger than I usually dare to ask. Help me trust You, who raise the dead. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
