Evening Prayer for December 11

About 2–3 minutes · 6 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.

Today’s takeaway: Wake up and rise, because Christ gives you light and His glory rests on you.

It is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.

Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.

Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ

Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning; And ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord

Before you pray

Is there any area where you have been spiritually asleep?

Prayer

Lord, awake, You who sleep, and Christ will give you light. It is high time to wake from sleep, because my salvation is nearer than when I believed. Let me not sleep as others do, but watch and be sober. Arise, shine, for my light has come. Keep my lamp burning and my heart ready, like a servant waiting for his master. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
