Evening Prayer for August 11

About 2–3 minutes · 8 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

Where is the way where light dwelleth?

Today’s takeaway: God is light, so walk in His light and let it shine through you.

God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

The Father, … hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins

Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.

Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Before you pray

Is there any darkness you are hiding from God tonight?

Prayer

Father, You are light, and in You there is no darkness at all. If I claim fellowship with You while I walk in darkness, I lie. If I walk in the light, the blood of Jesus cleanses me from all sin. You have made me fit for the inheritance of the saints in light. I am a child of the day. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
